Hatch welcomes the latest member of their team

15 Feb 2024

Hatch has appointed Caroline Larsson as Enterprise Fellow (MERLA).

Caroline will immediately start work on various projects, engaging with clients and stakeholders and conducting the necessary research and evaluation to enable them to realise meaningful change.

In the summer of 2023 Caroline completed her Master of Arts (MA) on Evidence-Basing: in Practice, Theory and Context, from the University of Gothenburg. Her MA included critical appraisal of scientific literature, synthesizing evidence for reviews and guidelines, organizational change and evidence, qualitative and quantitative methods, and research for policy.

Moreover, her dissertation, ‘summarising research for decision making during a pandemic: an analysis of the production of a living map of social research on COVID-19’, grew into a project that was much larger than she originally anticipated.

This included a nine-month internship working at the Evidence for Policy and Practice Information Centre (EPPI), based at University College London, where she was able to engage, participate and observe with colleagues and participants for the betterment of her research.

Caroline hails from the rural Swedish town of Karlstad and moved to the south coast of England in 2020. Away from work, she loves taking her chocolate Labrador, Frank, on long walks, which also affords her the opportunity to catch up with friends and family back home in Sweden.

Caroline said: “I really wanted to work for an organisation that put an emphasis on collaboration and the use of evidence to inform insights around change.

“I also wanted to work for a company with a commitment to support organisations that are devoted to benefiting the greater good.

“Hatch ticks all these boxes and more, and I’m really looking forward to working with my new colleagues and our clients.”

Dr Kay Lakin, Hatch Lead and Senior Enterprise Fellow (MERLA) said: “We are delighted to have appointed Caroline.

“She is joining Hatch at an exciting time, as we look to build on our first full calendar year of operating.

“Her fantastic experience and fresh perspective will help us deliver on the exciting mix of projects we are working on.”
